Doxieco was founded in April of 1993 as American Homestead Mercantile Co., specializing in handcrafted home décor, bath and gift items. From 1993 until 1998 we ran a successful craft show and catalog mail order business, growing from a home-based operation into a thriving little enterprise. In 1998 the company opened its first online shop and, thanks to the global reach of the Internet, had happy customers in more than 90 countries just two years later. In 2001 we ceased catalog and craft show operations to focus on the booming Internet business, and shifted our focus from exclusive handmade craft items to a broader line of interesting home décor and gift and novelty items. And in 2006, in a nod to our founder's love for what she calls "the smallest big dogs in the world"—dachshunds—we became Doxieco and founded DoxieShop.com.

Even though we've come a long way in the past 15 years, we haven't forgotten our roots or all of the great people who helped us make it here.
